Hannah Baker is twenty years old and a 2021 graduate of Hewitt-Trussville High School, where she was crowned the Homecoming Queen in October 2020.   Hannah began dancing at the age of three and she loves to act, dance and sing.  Hannah was cast in school theater productions for seven years and she participated in the 2019 and 2020 Alabama Conference of Theaters Trumbauer Festival, and became a member of the International Thespian Society during her senior year.  Hannah also participated in community theater classes and camps through the Dance Foundation, Birmingham Children’s Theater, ACTA and UAB’s ArtPlay.   Hannah enjoys helping others.  At the National Down Syndrome Congress national convention, she helped teach an exercise program she learned in a pilot study through the University of Nevada Las Vegas.  She has been a teacher’s assistant at her church’s Faith Formation program, a student volunteer at Birmingham Children’s Theater summer camps, and a camper buddy at Camp McDowell’s Bethany’s Kids summer camp.  Hannah would like to pursue post-secondary education to work in the medical sector as an assistant to medical staff.  Hannah is very excited to be in Dancing with the Stars of the Magic City where she will combine two things she loves – dancing and volunteering – to help homeless women and children at First Light.

Tawny Stephens has been a director, choreographer, and performer in the Birmingham Theatre community for the past twenty years. Some of her directing and choreography credits include Rock of Ages, A Christmas Story, The Marvelous Wonderettes, Bingo (the musical), and Bat Boy. You may have also seen her perform: Ulla (The Producers), Yitzack (Hedwig), Trisha (The Pink Unicorn), and Janis Joplin (Beehive). When she’s not onstage, Tawny is a Life Coach specializing in anxiety around public speaking. She is thrilled to get to be a pro-dancer for Dancing with the Stars this year and can’t wait to share what she and Hannah are putting together!

Each share, tweet, and email helps us spread the word about First Light.
