Kelly Allen, a native of Birmingham, began her dance journey at the age of 3 at Birmingham Dance Theatre under the guidance of Joni Nash Scofield. There, she studied ballet, jazz, and tap. With love, support, and encouragement, Joni helped Kelly realize her dreams in dance and build confidence in herself. Kelly started teaching dance at 14, sparking her passion for creating and helping others realize their dreams. Throughout her early years, Kelly won numerous awards, competitions, and scholarships, including the opportunity to dance in the Super Bowl and study under elite instructors in North Hollywood. She was also a member of the Vestavia Hills Rebelettes and the Auburn University Tiger Paws.
After taking several years off from dance, Kelly missed it deeply. A few years ago, she posted on Facebook asking for recommendations on where to take Latin dance classes, and Heartbeat Dance Company was suggested. Kelly took one class and fell in love with Latin dance. Jessica Ponte provided the strength and encouragement she needed to start dancing again. When not dancing, Kelly works as a computer programmer. Today, she enjoys dancing Latin with Heartbeat Dance Company and is also a member of the vibrant Magic City Disco Krewe.
